Most daith piercings are done at 16G. Diameter depends on how deep the fold is; 5/16" (8mm) is a snug everyday size, and 3/8" (10mm) gives more room for larger ears or for jewelry with gems. Does a daith piercing help with migraines?

There's no reliable scientific evidence that a daith piercing treats migraines. Get a daith because you love the look, and talk to your doctor about migraine treatment. If you do get one, a professional piercer can tell you whether your ear's fold suits it.

Is a hinged ring or a horseshoe better for a daith?

A horseshoe has screw-off ball ends, so you can angle it into the fold and then add the ends, which many find easier. A hinged ring clicks shut for a seamless, closed look but has to open wide enough to pass through. Both suit a healed daith; choose by the look you want.

How do I put in new daith jewelry?

The daith sits at a tight angle, so use a mirror and good light. Open or remove one end, guide the jewelry through from the front of the fold following the piercing's angle, then close it. Many people ask their piercer to do the first change, and that's a good idea if it resists.
