Labret Studs for Lip Piercings

A labret stud has a flat disk that sits against the inside of your lip, which is gentler on teeth and gums than a ball back. It's the usual choice for a labret, Monroe, Medusa, or snake bites, and for any lip piercing that's still healing. Choose internally threaded titanium or push-pin threadless labrets with CZ gems, opals, or black spikes. See every top in labret studs.

Lip Rings for a Healed Piercing

Once your lip is healed, a ring adds a different look. Choose a seamless 18G titanium hinged ring in silver, gold, black, or rainbow, a 16G hinged ring with a fixed ball, or 16G and 14G internally threaded titanium rings. A 20G titanium open hoop is a delicate option. Hoops around the lip should hug it closely so they don't rub your teeth.

Lip Piercing Jewelry Sizing

Most lip piercings are done at 16G. For labrets, a longer post of 5/16" (8mm) or 3/8" (10mm) leaves room while swelling goes down, and a 1/4" (6mm) post sits flatter once healed. What's the difference between a labret, Monroe, and Medusa piercing?

A labret sits centered below the lower lip, and snake bites are a pair on either side of it. A Monroe sits above the upper lip, off to one side. A Medusa, or philtrum, sits centered in the groove above the upper lip. All of them usually wear a flat-back labret stud.

What jewelry goes in a vertical labret?

A vertical labret passes through the lower lip from top to bottom, so a 16G curved barbell fits it best, with one end showing on top of the lip and one below. We carry titanium curved barbells with gem and spike ends, plus surgical steel options.

How do I keep lip jewelry from rubbing my teeth?

Choose a flat-back labret, which sits flatter inside your mouth than a ball back, and have your piercer downsize to a shorter post once swelling is gone. For lip rings, a snug diameter moves less. See your piercer if jewelry is pressing on your teeth or gums.
