Open Hoop Nose Rings

For a disk-end half hoop, hold the hoop with the disk end inside your nostril and push the tapered end out through the piercing from the inside. Then turn the hoop down so it curves around the edge of your nostril, and tuck the tapered end back inside. The disk stays inside your nose the whole time.

For a bendable hoop, gently twist the ends apart sideways, thread one end through the piercing, then twist the ends back together. Don't pull the ends straight apart, which bends the ring out of shape.

A disk-end half hoop stays in because the disk sits inside the nostril, and a bendable hoop stays in when its ends are closed snugly. Open hoops are made for healed nostril piercings. A fresh piercing usually heals best in the jewelry it was pierced with, and taking a hoop in and out can irritate it. Ask your piercer when it's safe to switch.

Match the gauge you wear now. 20G (0.8mm) is the thinner option and 18G (1mm) is slightly thicker. The half hoops come in both, and the bendable gem hoops are 20G. A ring thinner than your piercing can let the hole tighten over time, and going thicker can be uncomfortable, so check with your piercer before changing gauge.
