Are these hoops for nose, ear, or septum piercings?

Many hoops work in several piercings, even if the title names one. What matters is the gauge and diameter. A 20G hoop suits most nostrils, 18G and 16G fit many cartilage piercings, and 16G and 14G are common for septums.

How is hoop diameter measured?

Hoop size is the inner diameter, the distance across the inside of the ring. For a hoop that hugs the edge, measure from your piercing to the edge of the skin and pick a diameter a little over twice that. Not sure of your size? See our body jewelry gauge size chart.

How do I open a fixed ball ring?

Twist the ends sideways in opposite directions, like opening a key ring, just enough to fit through your piercing. Then twist them back until they meet. Pulling the ends straight apart bends the ring out of round.
