Tongue Barbells and Tongue Piercing Jewelry

Straight Barbells Made for the Tongue

Tongue rings are almost always straight barbells, with a ball or gem on top and a ball underneath. Our 14G tongue barbells use 316L surgical steel bars with tops including clear CZ gems, colorful balls in pink, blue, purple, green, and more, black PVD finishes, and a novelty design. A titanium CZ barbell is also available for sensitive mouths.

Flexible Bioflex Retainers

Our 14G Bioflex tongue barbells are flexible and soft, which some people find easier on their teeth and gums. The pink, clear, and flesh tones blend in, making them useful for work, school, or medical visits when a metal ring isn't welcome. Flexible bars are for healed piercings.

Tongue Ring Sizes and Downsizing

Tongue piercings are done at 14G, and 5/8" (16mm) is the standard length for a healed tongue. A new tongue piercing starts on a longer bar to leave room for swelling; once it settles, your piercer can downsize you to a shorter bar so it doesn't click against your teeth. Not sure of your size? Tongue Rings FAQ

How do I keep my tongue ring ball from coming loose?

Check the top ball every day or two and tighten it clockwise with clean fingers. Eating and talking loosen it gradually. If the threads feel worn, replace the barbell.

Is a tongue barbell the same as a nipple barbell?

Both are straight 14G barbells, so they're similar. The difference is length: a healed tongue usually takes 5/8" (16mm), and nipple bars run 1/2" to 5/8". Always match the length to your piercing.

Can I change just the top ball on my tongue ring?

Yes, if the new ball has the same thread size as your bar. The easiest way is to swap the whole barbell for a new one with the look you want.
